Job Overview

The Embassy of Japan in Sri Lanka is inviting applications for the position of Consultant for its Grassroots Grant Projects (GGP). This role offers an excellent opportunity for development sector professionals to contribute to community-focused projects funded through Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects programme. The successful candidate will support project formulation, monitoring, evaluation, reporting, and stakeholder coordination across Sri Lanka.

Company Overview

The Embassy of Japan in Sri Lanka plays a significant role in strengthening bilateral relations between Japan and Sri Lanka. Through the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) programme, the Embassy supports community development initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life and addressing human security challenges across the country. The programme works closely with government agencies, NGOs, and local communities to implement impactful development projects.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Development Studies or a related field.
  • Master’s Degree will be considered an advantage.
  • Minimum three years of work experience in the development sector.
  • Experience in project management consultancy roles.
  • Experience working with donor agencies will be an added advantage.
  • Field experience related to development projects is desirable.
  • Excellent report writing, time management, and field monitoring skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to build productive relationships with NGOs and government institutions.
  • Advanced English writing and speaking skills are mandatory.
  • Fluency in Sinhala and/or Tamil is required.
  • Computer literacy including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation and monitoring of Grassroots Grant Projects.
  • Conduct field visits and project monitoring activities.
  • Prepare reports, assessments, and project documentation.
  • Coordinate with NGOs, government agencies, and project stakeholders.
  • Assist in project formulation and evaluation processes.
  • Monitor project progress and ensure compliance with programme requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records and provide administrative support related to grant projects.
  • Contribute to effective communication between project partners and the Embassy.
