Qualifications & Experience
- Degree or Diploma in Biotechnology, Plant Science, Agriculture, Horticulture, Botany, Microbiology, or a related field.
- Professional training in plant tissue culture, laboratory management, or quality systems will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of Nepenthes production, ornamental plant production, or commercial micropropagation will be a distinct advantage.
- Preferably 3–5 years of experience in plant tissue culture or commercial laboratory operations.
- At least 1–2 years of experience in a supervisory or team leadership role.
- Hands-on experience in media preparation, autoclave operation, laminar airflow procedures, contamination monitoring, culture transfer, and laboratory record keeping.
- Experience in commercial-scale plant production, greenhouse operations, or nursery coordination will be advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the day-to-day management of tissue culture laboratory operations.
- Supervise laboratory technicians and support staff to ensure compliance with approved laboratory procedures.
- Monitor plant cultures for contamination, growth performance, rooting response, and overall culture health.
- Coordinate production schedules, production targets, and staff allocation according to operational requirements.
- Ensure proper preparation, sterilization, and storage of laboratory media, chemicals, stock solutions, and consumables.
- Maintain laboratory hygiene, clean-room discipline, autoclave procedures, and contamination control measures.
- Maintain accurate production records, batch records, inventory records, and staff productivity records.
- Support the development and improvement of SOPs for micropropagation, initiation, multiplication, rooting, and transfer procedures.
- Coordinate with nursery production teams regarding rooted culture transfers and acclimatization activities.
- Assist in planning laboratory capacity, staffing requirements, training programs, and quality assurance initiatives.

- Ability to identify production issues and implement corrective actions.
- Knowledge of laboratory quality systems and contamination control procedures.

- Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, email, and documentation tools.
- Ability to work effectively under production targets while maintaining laboratory discipline.
